Joe Vieira Trucking has been a leader in the trucking industry in Bermuda for over 40 years. With a focus on house moves, site deliveries, heavy equipment moves, crane truck, telescopic forklift work and more, the company continues to grow. We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Senior Operations Manager to lead and modernize our trucking, haulage, and warehouse operations in Hamilton, Bermuda. This is a strategic and hands-on role responsible for day to day oversight of fleet, dispatch, warehouse, asset management, safety, finance, and operational transformation initiatives. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted operational partner to ownership, strengthening governance, improving performance, and building scalable infrastructure to support business growth. The Opportunity: This role is accountable for both day-to-day operational excellence and long-term modernization. You will oversee trucking dispatch, haulage supervisor, warehouse operations and yard management, fleet and equipment assets, risk management, and systems implementation while developing a strong frontline supervisory team. Key Responsibilities: Operational Leadership & Governance: Oversee and lead daily trucking, haulage, dispatch, and warehouse operations. Oversee planning of trucks, drivers, and equipment. Introduce structured governance frameworks, SOPs, and KPIs. Standardize dispatch workflows and operational reporting. Serve as escalation point for operational issues. Drive performance accountability and service excellence. Fleet, Equipment & Asset Management: Oversee full fleet and heavy equipment management (trucks, trailers, specialized assets). Monitor utilization, maintenance cycles, and downtime. Improve cost-per-job and asset ROI metrics. Reduce accident frequency and insurance exposure. Warehouse & Yard Oversight: Optimize layout and workflow efficiency. Strengthen inbound/outbound handling and inventory controls. Enhance warehouse safety and compliance practices. Process Optimization & Systems Modernization: Lead implementation of operational management software (TMS, booking, tracking systems). Redesign and document SOPs across trucking, haulage, and warehouse. Digitize booking, dispatch, and billing workflows. Drive automation to reduce manual processes. Workforce Leadership & Development: Lead and develop a large frontline workforce. Build management bench strength and succession planning. Implement structured onboarding and training programs. Support cross-training for operational flexibility. Risk, Compliance & Business Continuity: Ensure regulatory compliance across transport and warehouse operations. Lead crisis response and continuity planning. Reduce operational risk exposure. Financial & Growth Accountability: Improve operational cost control and efficiency. Support pricing strategies with cost insight. Strengthen job profitability reporting and estimating discipline. Improve fleet utilization rates. Align operational structure with scaling strategy. We are seeking a strong operational leader who combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
