The AVP, P&C Risk Actuary and Market Risk is responsible for leading and enhancing reserving processes for property and casualty lines to ensure a robust and accurate assessment of liabilities at each evaluation period. The role leads analysis of claims data, determines reserve adequacy, and provides critical insights into the financial stability of portfolios assumed by Fortitude Re. This role also leads the analysis and oversight of market risk and ALM risk across the enterprise, supporting risk-informed decision-making and balance sheet resilience. Reporting to the SVP, Market Risk Officer, the position requires deep technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across the organization.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field; more advanced graduate degree preferred. Fellow or Associate of the Society of Actuaries designation is a plus, or internationally recognized equivalent, with 5 to 8 years' experience in P&C reserving, actuarial analysis, market risk management, and insurance industry practices. Experience with Bermuda regulatory framework and its implications for market risk management. Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and database management tools (SQL, Power BI, etc.). Proficiency in actuarial software, statistical tools, and data analysis techniques. Strong knowledge of reserving methodologies, insurance accounting principles, and regulatory requirements. Proficiency in at least one programming language (C, Python, R, MATLAB, etc.) is desired. Strong understanding of financial models (interest rate, volatility, equity, etc.) and deep knowledge of fixed income asset classes and their associated risk profiles is preferred.
