Fergus Reinsurance Limited ("Fergus Re") is a Bermuda domiciled Class 3B Insurer reinsuring high volume, low severity casualty risks through its segregated account cell. The company has experienced significant growth in recent years and gross written premium exceeded $350m in 2024 and we are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our growing team. Fergus Re is looking for an experienced Financial Controller to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, financial risk management review, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecast preparation, as well as development of internal controls, policies and procedures. Key duties & responsibilities: • Manage all accounting operations including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Payable, Reinsurance Accounting and collateral management • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting • Research technical accounting issues for compliance • Support month-end and year-end close process • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls • Management of finance team, including reinsurance accounting and treasury and collateral management Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • Qualified Accountant (CA, CPA) with at least 5 years of post-qualified experience gained within Bermuda's insurance/reinsurance industry, with at least 3 years in a similar reinsurance finance role • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures for reinsurance under IFRS and/or US GAAP, as well as Bermuda regulatory requirements • Well-developed active listening, problem-solving mindset, and interpersonal skills for developing and strengthening broker and client relationships • Excellent analytic, communication, business writing, and oral presentation skills • Ability to work in a team environment to support others for growth and development To apply please send your résumé to bdajobs@expertisegroup.com. Requirements
