Our client, Cedar Trace Advisers Limited, is looking for an Underwriter Specialty who will support the development and ongoing management of a substantial, globally focused specialty treaty portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting profitable business across a range of specialty lines, contributing to portfolio strategy, and ensuring underwriting decisions align with the Company's risk appetite, return thresholds, and capital framework. Key Responsibilities: • Underwrite quality business in alignment with Mereo's risk appetite, and strategic objectives. • Assess pricing metrics in consultation with the Mereo actuarial team. • Assess technical pricing versus market pricing and articulate underwriting rationale for deviations. • Ensure underwriting decisions are supported by clear documentation and analytical justification. • Review contracts in consultation with the Mereo legal team. • Ensure compliance with internal underwriting guidelines, authority levels and regulatory requirements. • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with brokers and clients. • Willingness to travel, representing Mereo at client meetings and market events. • Conduct underwriting audits of client files to ensure adherence to standards and best practices. • Prepare high-quality presentations, analyses, and reports for internal and external stake-holders. • Contribute to key project initiatives. • Ensure accuracy and integrity of underwriting data. Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • Minimum of four (4) years of industry experience. • College degree preferred. • Industry recognized underwriting qualification preferred. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Exceptional attention to detail. • Collaborative team contributor. • Self-motivated and able to operate in a lean, entrepreneurial environment. • Specialty treaty underwriting experience, with a preference for a background in marine, energy and/or transportation markets.
