Our client, Cedar Trace Advisers Limited, is looking for an Reserving Actuary who will take the lead within the Actuarial team for the reserving function. This will include reserving for all the company's classes of business within the casualty, property, and specialty divisions (insurance and reinsurance). The successful candidate will report to the Chief Actuary, have an active role in the ongoing development of the reserving process, and will work closely with members of the Finance, Operations (Claims), Analytics and Underwriting teams, Preference will be given to candidates with experience in BMA forms/filings and US GAAP reporting. Key Responsibilities: • Producing quarterly reserving analyses and reports along with ongoing development of reserving processes, ensuring accuracy, robustness, and governance throughout. • Supporting the running of the reserving committee by working closely with the Chief Actuary with a view to leading this key committee. • Develop, expand and maintain industry and market data relevant to reserve analyses. • Assist in the preparation and review of Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) regulatory filings, including BSCR and related statutory/compliance retums. • Provide actuarial reserving input to financial reporting under US GAAP / STAT accounting standards. • Provide strategic insight on reserve adequacy, trends, and emerging risks. • Involvement in a wide variety of actuarial projects - principally in improving reserving. reporting, exposure management and financial forecasting. • Presenting and discussing reserve analysis output with key internal and external stakeholders. Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • University (bachelor's or higher) degree in Actuarial science, Mathematics, Economics or similar field. • Preferably has the FIA/FCAS or at least AIA / ACAS designation. • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Property/Casualty Reinsurance reserving, preferably in the Casualty and Specialty classes of business. • Experience with key actuarial deliverables such as statutory filings (e.g. Experience with BMA filings such as the BSCR and US GAAP / STAT reporting). • Proficient in MS Office (particularly Excel and Access) to an advanced level. • Good working knowledge of Python, SQL, VBA or R. • Experience with data visualisation tools like Power BI. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate complex technical concepts to a wide range of audiences including executive leadership and Management. • Thorough knowledge of actuarial reserving techniques and the processes used in reserving analysis and presentation. Able to prioritize/organize workload and time dependent output. • Possessing excellent interpersonal/communication skills to work closely and collaboratively with key colleagues in underwriting, operations, analytics, actuarial and finance, as well as external parties such as brokers, regulators and consultants.
