Specialist Electrical Fitter

BELCO is seeking a Specialist Electrical Fitter to join our Bulk Generation team. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, testing, repairs and commissioning of Power Generation's electrical equipment. Key Responsibilities • Maintain diesel engine and gas turbine systems • Perform LV switchgear testing, cable installation and LV termination • Maintain accurate equipment test and safety records • Provide guidance and on-the-job training while being able to work under minimal supervision • Excellent observational and analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve • Ability to interpret and follow technical drawings and manuals of various standards • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide on-the-job training, assessment and coaching • Strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to liaise with all levels of the organisation • Ability to make technical decisions in order to rectify problems effectively • Knowledge of BELCO's Health & Safety policies and procedures Education, Experience and Skills • Minimum of five (5) years post apprenticeship experience in installation and maintenance of electrical machinery and control systems, preferably in an electrical utility • Technical qualification such as BTEC, NVQ Level 3, City and Guilds, ONC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering Technology or related discipline • E&I Qualifications considered an asset • Knowledge of standard electrical practices, preferably National Electric Code (NEC) and NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Code • Excellent physical condition, with the ability to climb and work in confined spaces
