Vision Bermuda (formerly The Bermuda Society for the Blind) provides essential programmes and services to individuals who are blind or visually impaired across Bermuda.
We are seeking qualified and experienced professionals to deliver vision rehabilitation therapy. Applicants must hold dual certification in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy and Orientation & Mobility training (North America), or certification as a Vision Rehabilitation Officer (UK), or an equivalent recognised qualification in vision rehabilitation. An additional qualification in integrated health and social care would be an asset.
Responsibilities include:
Conduct assessments and develop individualised rehabilitation plans across home, community, educational and vocational settings.
Deliver vision rehabilitation therapy, orientation & mobility training, and assistive technology instruction.
Develop and facilitate group rehabilitation therapy based upon identified needs.
Collaborate with community agencies, government departments and educational/healthcare professionals to assist in delivering integrated, person-centred care.
Provide community education and outreach promoting visual health and the programmes and services offered by Vision Bermuda.
Maintain accurate records and prepare required administrative reports.
Travel as required to provide in-home and community-based therapy.
Supervise professionals and volunteers within the Vision Rehabilitation Therapy programme.
Qualifications
Master's Degree in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT) or equivalent Higher Education with an active, current full and unrestricted certification in Vision Rehabilitation Therapy (CVRT) granted by the Academy of Certification of Vision Rehabilitation & Education Professionals (ACVREP) and in Orientation & Mobility Training (COMS) (North America); or a UK diploma or Master's degree in Rehabilitation Work (Visual Impairment); or equivalent certifications.
Minimum five (5) years' experience as a Vision Rehabilitation Professional or equivalent in a related rehabilitation field.
Demonstrated proficiency in assistive technology and current clinical practices.
Experience in programme development, management and evaluation is essential.
Experience within an integrated health and social care environment is an asset.
Ability to promote programmes and services to clients and donors is desirable.
