Our client, Symetra Bermuda Re Ltd. (Symetra) provides reinsurance solutions to its affiliate, Symetra Life Insurance Company. Symetra are seeking to employ an Actuary II to lead the valuation modeling team governance procedures and internal controls for best estimate liability reporting. The successful candidate will be fundamental in asset analysis, risk analysis, strategic improvements to modeling, procedural improvements, and facilitating third party partnerships. They will be the primary contact for internal and external model review and audits and will act as a first line reviewer for modeling results and present findings to the model change committee.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in actuarial science or related field Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, or international equivalent required 3+ years of relevant actuarial experience. Significant experience with the Scenario-Based Approach reserve methodology Experience working collaboratively with both internal and external actuarial professionals Experience with Bermuda-specific life and annuity reinsurance reporting and regulatory framework required Experience assessing model controls and modeling governance structures within the Bermuda regulatory framework Excellent and highly effective communication skills. Communicates and presents often to model committee, auditors, and members of the board Proven ability to work independently and manage internal and external team relationships remotely and across varying time zones Ability to solve complex actuarial problems independently. Ability to prioritize, organize, plan, and manage complex projects
