Additional Main Duties:

• Make, alter and repair bodywork of vehicles by laying out, cutting and joining parts using patterns, templates, shears, hand tools and welding or brazing equipment for complete range of vehicles.
• May be required to prime and paint vehicle.
• Give technical advice, support and expert information to the Service Coordinator, Manager, other technicians and insurance company adjusters and produce verbal and/or written estimates for collision repairs as required.
• Liaise with Foreman, Service Coordinator and/or customers as required.
• Drive and test complete range of vehicles as required.
• Produce accurate and technically correct job sheet of work carried out on each job including working time and parts required.
• Work unsupervised and display initiative.
• Supervise junior staff, apprentices and trainees, undertake the role of on-the-job coach and assessor, providing technical tutoring to junior staff from time to time if called upon to do so.

Additional Skills and Traits: Experience in using chassis alignment and plastic welding equipment and the use of the Spraybake Paint booth.

Applicant must have extensive experience in automotive industry for this position in our busy auto body department. The successful applicant must have the following: A minimum of 10 years practical working experience in auto body in a garage setting. Experience in using chassis alignment and plastic welding equipment and the use of the Spraybake Paint booth. A City & Guilds or equivalent certification. Ability to work well with others, manage their own time and supervise apprentices when needed. Be an excellent time keeper. This position requires a self-motivated, flexible individual who can work without supervision, including overtime when required to meet deadlines and work load.
