We seek qualified, highly motivated, and experienced professionals to work in a supportive but demanding environment.The Senior Technologist directs the planning, coordination and supervising of all functions within the General Laboratory including testing, staff training, inventory control and equipment maintenance. The Senior Technologist develops implements and revises policies and procedures according to the established departmental protocol.Key responsibilities include:Assisting the Laboratory Management Team in monitoring the operations for the designated areaAssisting Pathologists in the development and implementation of clinical testsSupervising and assigning work to support staffAssisting with the training and orientation of new technical staff and visiting studentsMonitoring employee performances and evaluationsEnsuring proper instrument and equipment operation, troubleshoots and performs minor repair on equipmentPreparing monthly statistical reports of testsMaintaining inventory and requisition of supplies for designated areaKeeps abreast of new developments in technology and equipment

Requirements

Qualifications &/ Registration required:Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Higher National Certificate, Diploma in Medical Technology or equivalentFive (5) years post graduate experience in a medical laboratoryRegistration with a professional licensing body in medical technology such as A.S.C.P. or equivalentMust be able to register with the Council for Allied Health ProfessionsDiploma in Supervisory Management preferred or must be completed after appointmentSchedule: Participates in a shift rotation to include weekends and public holidays. Hours of work may be adjusted to meet the changing demands on the Pathology services required.Pre-employment substance abuse screening is mandatory for all successful candidates.
