Chubb Bermuda invites applications for the position of Assistant Vice President, Financial Lines Claims. This position reports directly to the Vice President, Claims and Claims Counsel (Financial Lines). With operations in 54 countries, Chubb is one of the world's largest multi-line property and casualty insurers. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Managing a portfolio of complex, high severity financial lines claims Managing claim analysts handling a portfolio of higher volume, lower severity claims Interfacing with and overseeing operational team for support as needed Performing detailed, substantive, ongoing analysis of significant, novel and/or challenging claims Working closely with outside and in-house counsel and other tower participants to protect Chubb's contractual rights under its policies Managing and attending mediations and arbitrations Performing legal analysis in respect of underlying exposures and coverage under a variety of financial limes policy forms Communicating with underwriters regarding claim developments Preparing timely and informative management reports Overseeing noticing and reporting to reinsurers The successful applicant must possess: A Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school Admission to bar of at least one state preferred An understanding of the U.S. tort system and insurance-coverage principles At least five years insurance-industry experience analyzing, managing, negotiating and resolving complex financial lines claims, including, employment as either a claims professional or in-house counsel advising claims professionals; or as outside counsel representing insurers/reinsurers with respect to complex financial lines claims Strong oral and written communication skills Effective negotiation skills Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on inclusive leadership
