Legal & General Resources Bermuda Ltd. is a Bermuda-based specialist life reinsurer providing life reinsurance solutions to clients in the UK, Europe, the US, and Canada. The Head of Technical Accounting & Regulatory Reporting role is responsible for production of key financial deliverables, internal and external. Ensuring adherence to Technical Policy and Tax requirements, and providing insight into business performance, whilst supporting delivery of new business changes within this context.
Key accountabilities include:
Accountable for managing financial and regulatory reporting, as well as technical accounting policies. This includes completion of BMA statutory filings.
Responsible for preparing the annual IFRS Report & Accounts and quarterly IFRS group submissions, with a focus on accuracy, completeness, and thorough review.
Oversee the development of technical accounting and coordinate with others on accounting changes related to new business activities.
Prepare board and committee MI packs efficiently to aid decision-making; draft ad-hoc accounting papers.
Manage outsourced accounting operations and the relationship with the UK reporting team under the SLA.
Champion effective controls and the financial reporting risk & control matrix.
Liaise with external auditors on any accounting changes relating to new business developments and technical accounting matters.
Coach, motivate, and empower your team; drive process efficiency and finance automation initiatives.
Skills and Experienced required:
Professional accounting designation (CA/CPA/ACA or equivalent).
9+ years' of relevant experience in a comparable role within life insurance.
Current expert knowledge of IFRS, specifically IFRS 17 and 9 in relation to annuity reinsurance and regulatory accounting requirements for group and IFRS reporting.
Knowledge of BMA regulatory requirements in relation to life insurance.
Track record of delivering high-quality reporting to tight deadlines; commercially aware and pragmatic.
Track record of preparing and presenting papers to boards.
Strong people leadership and stakeholder management, including external audit relationships.
Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment; balanced decision-maker who sees initiatives through.
