The post holder is responsible for the conduct of criminal proceedings under the direction of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Deputy Directors of Public Prosecutions. The post holder prosecutes cases in all the Courts of Bermuda and provides advice to the Police, Ministries and other Departments on criminal matters as required. The post holder is also specifically responsible for prosecuting hearings and providing advice in respect of the Proceeds of Crime, Mutual Legal Assistance, Extradition and other related matters in all the Courts of Bermuda as required. Additionally, the post holder performs associated legal and operational duties as required.

Requirements

Minimum of five (5) years relevant post-qualification experience in prosecuting criminal litigation as sole counsel at all lower courts, and jury trials. A substantial portion of this experience must be as a prosecutor in a government legal environment with work in the areas of Extradition, Mutual Legal Assistance and Proceeds of Crime Matters. The post holder must be a qualified, practicing Barrister or Attorney-at-law of a Commonwealth jurisdiction and capable of being called to the Bermuda Bar. FATF/ CFATF training and experience with Extradition are assets.
