Under the supervision of the Unit Supervisor and Senior Shift Officer, the Residential Care Officer engages in therapeutic interactions with adolescents placed in the cottage program. Works on any three (3) shifts; completes shift tasks and follows the policies and procedures of the program, observes individual and group status and utilizes Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) to manage residents proactively and therapeutically teaches life skills through daily living. Records consistently on all appropriate files, forms and records. Under the supervision of the Clinical Social Worker, participates in the individual and group intervention by acting as a primary mentor for four (4) residents. In the absence of the Unit Supervisor, the Officer has the authority to make decisions in crisis situations as required to ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients. Essential knowledge and skills include strong interpersonal skills, creativity, resourcefulness, and proficiency in Microsoft applications.

Requirements

Minimum Experience Required: Experience working in an adolescent residential setting is an asset. Minimum Education Qualifications: Bachelor's of Social Work or a related field from an accredited university. Must be Certified in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, C.A.R.E. curriculum, CPR/First Aid, and possess a Community Service License.
