The Technical Education Lab Technician works under the direction of the Dean of Business, Hospitality & Technical Education and the Chair of Technical Education to provide a range of maintenance and repair duties within the department of Business Hospitality & Technical Education. The Technician will abide by Bermuda College guidelines in relation to practical science, health & safety and proper use of equipment. As well, the post-holder will perform associated duties within the Technical Education facility and will work as part of a dynamic, student-focused team. Key Duties and Responsibilities The post-holder will prepare classrooms, laboratories and workshops to ensure that they are in a ‘state of readiness’; and is responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of mechanical machines and the proper functioning of the simulated trainers. The daily routine will consist of assisting Lecturers and, under their guidance, organizing workshop exercises, providing demonstrations and supervising students while illustrating and ensuring safety protocols.

Requirements

The post-holder must possess academic qualifications to at least an associate degree level and/ or certification in a technical discipline with at least five (5) years’ experience in the discipline. The Postholder must be physically fit and be capable of coping with the demands of the job. Must be physically fit, able to lift at least 100 pounds and be proficient with tools. Must be a mature and reliable individual and have good time keeping skills with consistent work ethics.
