The Specialty Treaty Underwriter role presents a significant opportunity to underwrite a substantial book of diverse, complex and highly challenging reinsurance treaty business. You will help manage this account which is currently circa $100m of profitable and non-correlating premium income. To do so, you will need a demonstrable grasp of fundamental underwriting principles and be capable of applying them across heterogeneous lines of business. Intellectual adaptability and problem solving skills are essential, as this area requires taking sound and rational bets on emerging, niche and often 'unproven' types of risk. Moreover, you will need be capable of creating and cultivating relationships within the broking and underwriting communities to ensure a steady stream of opportunities and market intelligence continue to present themselves.Significant underwriting experience in niche specialty reinsurance classes, including cyber, wildfire liability, nuclear and terrorism;
Experience of straddling London and Bermuda specialty markets, and operating within a multi-platform team;
Proven ability to grow a network of broker and client relationships in diverse specialty classes;
Track record of transitioning successfully between different lines of business;
Analytical and numerical competency, with examples of innovation in specialty lines pricing and modelling;
Desirably, relevant academic and/or professional credentials;
Organized with a knack for prioritization and time management;
Hunger to challenge convention and make a difference;
Demonstrable commercial awareness with a drive to find solutions;
People agility, an ability to flex your style to work with and influence a wide range of people;
