The Bermuda Zoological Society (BZS) is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and experienced Fund Development Officer to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in supporting the conservation, research, and education efforts of one of Bermuda's most respected non-profit organizations. The Fund Development Officer is responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of fundraising and development for BZS. This includes donor engagement, managing the donor database, leading grant proposals, and supporting community outreach and marketing. You'll work closely with the Principal Curator, Education Officer, Board members, and the Fundraising Committee to drive strategies that ensure the sustainability and success of our organization. Key Responsibilities: • Write and lead development of grant proposals and donor reports. • Manage donor relations, stewardship, and donor recognition programs. Oversee and maintain the donor database (Raiser's Edge), ensuring accuracy and timely acknowledgment. Drive annual giving campaigns and fundraising initiatives. Research funding opportunities and support donor prospecting. Develop monthly fundraising reports and track progress toward goals. • Oversee BZS Membership and support with engagement strategies. • Collaborate across departments and represent BZS at board and committee meetings as required. Support special events, new initiatives, and community fundraising efforts. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and ethical fundraising practices. What We're Looking For: • 5-7 years of experience in a nonprofit fundraising or development role. Post-secondary degree or certification in a related field, or equivalent experience. Strong writing and communication skills, with experience crafting compelling proposals. Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills. Strong relationship-building and networking abilities. Proven experience managing databases. Raiser's Edge and Bloomerang knowledge preferred. • Team leadership and performance management experience. Self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently. • Commitment to the mission and values of the BZS.
