The Royal Gazette is seeking applications for the position of News Editor to oversee a talented team of hard-working journalists. The successful applicant will have at least ten years' experience as a journalist, with NQJ/NCE qualifications or equivalent and experience of having efficiently managed a team. The applicant must have an appetite for politics but also be open to pursuing human interest/community stories. You will be comfortable in the digital age while overseeing the smooth delivery of breaking news to our readers. You will also be required to work unsocial hours and on holidays. Other responsibilities will also include: Accuracy is essential from all journalists as a fundamental starting point. Managing the diary effectively to ensure that stories are not missed, that reporters are given time to produce good off-diary stories, and that photography/video bookings are fulfilled. Provide the Editor with a detailed briefing of all stories at the daily news conference. Writing and publishing breaking news online as required.

Requirements

At least ten years' experience as a journalist, with NQJ/NCE qualifications or equivalent and experience of having efficiently managed a team. Must have an appetite for politics but also be open to pursuing human interest/community stories. Comfortable in the digital age. Ability to work unsocial hours and on holidays.
