As a senior news reporter within our busy news team you will be writing digital and print stories, sometimes during unsociable hours, and will be expected to provide cover for the News Editor and Assistant News Editor every third weekend. We want someone who is full of ideas for articles and investigations, doesn’t shy away from thorny issues and is unafraid to ask tough questions. You will also need to be able to write excellent copy to tight deadlines, juggle multiple tasks and have the personality to build up a fantastic contacts book. You will also possess the ability to oversee the news department whenever on the weekend duty rota, editing copy to a very high standard. Experience of working in a fast-paced news environment is a must, while video and social-media expertise will be considered a plus.
Requirements
A minimum of ten years working as a news reporter; NQJ/NCE qualifications to senior level, or equivalent, including shorthand at 100wpm; A portfolio showcasing your hard news exclusives
