Today, the Group operates a strong three brand structure in Japan, comprising Daiichi Life, Daiichi Frontier Life, and Neo First Life, and continues to expand its international footprint, including its life reinsurance operations in Bermuda.We are seeking a skilled and motivated Actuary to join our Life Reinsurance team in Bermuda. The successful candidate will support the pricing, valuation, and ongoing management of life reinsurance business, providing actuarial insight that underpins sound risk management, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision making. The Actuary will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following: Perform actuarial analyses related to life reinsurance pricing, valuation, and experience analysis, including mortality, lapse, and expense assumptions. Develop, maintain, and enhance actuarial models for treaty pricing, cash flow projections, and profitability assessments. Support the valuation of life reinsurance liabilities for financial and regulatory reporting purposes. Conduct experience studies and assumption setting to support pricing and reserving activities. Work closely with underwriting, finance, risk, and client teams to provide actuarial input on treaty structures and risk assessments. Prepare actuarial reports, presentations, and documentation for senior management, auditors, and regulators. Assist with capital modelling, stress testing, and broader risk management initiatives. Ensure actuarial work complies with applicable regulatory requirements, professional standards, and internal governance frameworks. Monitor industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging risks affecting the life reinsurance market. Contribute to continuous improvement of actuarial processes, models, and controls.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have: A Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline. Progress toward or attainment of a professional actuarial designation (e.g., Associate or Fellow of a recognized actuarial body). 3-7+ years of actuarial experience, preferably within life insurance or life reinsurance, including experience analysis and financial analysis for a life insurance company. Strong technical and analytical skills, with proficiency in actuarial or statistical modelling tools, including experience with Excel, Python, Risk Agility FM and other languages/software. Experience working with life insurance products, reinsurance structures, and valuation principles, including reserving calculations for Japanese and Australian life insurance products. Exposure to USGAAP valuation principles and methodologies and the Scenario Based Approach under Bermuda regulations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex actuarial concepts clearly. Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline driven environment. Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across functions and geographies. Preferred Experience (Desirable but not required): Exposure to IFRS and/or statutory reporting frameworks. Experience with mortality or longevity risk transfer solutions. Advanced actuarial modelling or programming skills.
