Arch Reinsurance Ltd. (Bermuda) provides specialty property, casualty and life reinsurance products through reinsurance intermediaries worldwide. These programs range from Property Catastrophe and Property Excess of Loss reinsurance to Professional Liability and Marine Treaties. Our Bermuda-based operation has a strong, proven management team, a commitment to underwriting discipline, and financial strength that is rated A+ (Superior) by A.M. Best and A+ by S&P. We invite applications for the position of Head of Retrocessions. The Head of Retrocessions will assist in coordinating all stages of the reinsurance purchasing process and will be responsible for the company's overall reinsurance purchasing strategy from traditional, ILS and other forms of Third Party Capital. This individual will also be responsible for coordinating between the various departments (underwriting, modeling, actuarial, legal claims and accounting) involved in these reinsurance purchases. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and maintain a complete understanding of the various lines of business underwritten by Arch Re and have in-depth knowledge of the various retrocession products offered by the market for these lines. • Identify the applicable reinsurance needs for each department, design the most efficient retrocession product and identify the best process to achieve the targeted structure, terms and conditions. • Negotiate the terms and conditions of each retrocession contract and review / validate each contract wording with the legal department. Review and validate Arch Re's reporting to its retrocessionaires. • Market to brokers, reinsurers and ILS managers on a senior level. • Manage key Business Development initiatives as directed by the senior management of the company. Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • Minimum of 10 years of combined experience in both underwriting and retrocession purchase. • FCAS, FIA or equivalent Actuarial designation. • In-depth knowledge of both traditional and non-traditional retrocession products across all lines of business. • In-depth understanding of the various industry standard modeling tools (including the catastrophe models developed by RMS, AIR or KCC) and be able to perform statistical analyses using the various outputs of these tools. A proven track record and excellent current contacts with both brokers and retrocessionaires worldwide. A proven track record in designing, marketing and placing structures with Third Party Capital's investors including Cat Bonds, Side Car and other ILS Transactions. Proven ability to market to senior individuals in the industry with experience traveling to foreign regions. Ability to travel extensively to visit reinsurers and retrocession brokers. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with management at a senior level. The ideal applicant will be willing and able to travel extensively, work overtime and be able to conduct business with worldwide based reinsurers/brokers.
