Aeolus Capital Management Ltd. manages capital on behalf of investors seeking the superior risk adjusted returns and diversification benefits available from investing in the property catastrophe reinsurance and retrocession markets. Based in Bermuda, it serves as the insurance manager to its subsidiary, Aeolus Re Ltd., a Class 3 provider of collateralized property catastrophe protection to insurers and reinsurers and a registered segregated accounts company. Further, its affiliate Aeolus Investment Advisers Ltd., an investment adviser, manages dedicated catastrophe bond portfolios providing investors with targeted access to this segment of the ILS market. As used herein, the "Company" refers to all affiliates within the group. We invite applications for the following position: Controller Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer - Reinsurance & Group Chief Accounting Officer, and managing a team of accountants, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibilities across the group: Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting and a robust control environment. Oversee all account reconciliations, maintaining of sub-ledgers and closing of trial balances. Oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements. Oversee the preparation and filing of the statutory financial returns and related information. Develop annual budgets for operations, capital expenditures and cash flows and financial reporting packages. Assist in managing the life cycle of trust facilities. Provide finance, operating and such other reports as senior management may require from time to time. Manage treasury functions in accordance with established investment guidelines. Assist in the preparation of periodic investor reports. Work with the independent auditors on the annual U.S. GAAP audits and the preparation of the information required for various tax returns and reports of the Company and its investors. Assist, as necessary, in this hands-on position to ensure that finance and operations related projects are completed in a timely and accurate fashion. Provide such other information as may be required from time to time by the Board of Directors and senior management. Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required: University degree in accounting or business and an internationally recognized accounting designation; a CFA® Charter holder an asset. A minimum of fifteen years of relevant accounting experience with at least eight years gained in the insurance-linked securities industry. Demonstrated experience in managing or supporting investment functions within a reinsurer, ILS manager, or related financial services organization. Experience with collateralized reinsurance and fair value reporting for investments in reinsurance securities. Demonstrable knowledge of catastrophe bond trading operations and catastrophe bond valuation methodologies, including experience reviewing valuations prepared by fund administrators. Experience ensuring compliance with US GAAP and Bermuda statutory regulatory requirements. Extensive experience using one or more accounting software packages (preferably MS Dynamics Great Plains) is required. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain models using advanced Excel tools including array formulas and data tables integrated with Microsoft Power Query to integrate and transform large quantities of data from various sources. Proven ability to organize and expediently report on data from various sources and a commitment to detailed, accurate investor-related reporting. Preferred experience with fronted reinsurance structures and related financial arrangements. Thorough understanding of banking and investment products and general understanding of financial markets. Experience writing and running queries using SQL statements. Ability to provide leadership and peer review of financial and accounting work product and related material. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills and the ability to interface with senior management, investors, and other external parties.
