We are looking for a professional Sous Chef for our kitchen. The successful applicant will assist the Head Chef with the daily operation of the kitchen. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Cooking and preparing high quality meals Assist the Head Chef/Manager to create menu items, recipes and develop dishes Supervise all kitchen stations Prepare catering orders for customers Ensuring food quality and excellent standards are maintained for all dishes created Responsible for determining food inventory needs, stocking and ordering Maintaining work equipment by communicating with the manager/maintenance when equipment is not working or requires repairs/maintenance Maintain a professional appearance and good work attitude Training new staff to the proper MarketPlace standards Staff scheduling while working with an effective labor cost Managing the kitchen inventory and ensuring supplies are fresh and of high quality Strong supervisory skills managing conflict, performance management, providing feedback, coaching, mentoring and motivating employees Keep current with new trends in the industry and respond competitively to changes in the marketplace Ensure the workstations and kitchen equipment is clean, organized and sanitized Ensure the kitchen follows all health and safety regulations and food safety guidelines Qualifications and Experience: Must have 3 years prior experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume kitchen High school diploma or GED Knowledge and understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures Knowledge of multiple cuisines, including but not limited to Asian, American, Caribbean, European, Italian and others Excellent knife skills Must have a proven track record of innovative ideas and programs to drive sales and profits to the department Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of stakeholders Strong computer skills and proficiency with computer software used in the food industry Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills Highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment Ability to bend and lift loads at least 50lbs in weight Must be able to work in cold and hot environments for extended periods of time Must have strong negotiation skills Must have a mindset that is fully focused on job performance Must have a positive attitude and be committed to creating a positive work environment.
