Reporting to the Head of Marine, Energy & Aviation, the Underwriter - Specialty will contribute to the development and management of a disciplined Specialty portfolio, applying sound underwriting judgement, maintaining high quality broker relationships and working collaboratively across the business to support the company's strategic and financial objectives. Duties and responsibilities Underwrite new and existing business in line with company guidelines and exposure parameters Develop and maintain strong broker and client relationships across key markets (London, US and international) Provide analytical insight based on pricing, aggregates, market trends and class-level developments. Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure underwriting consistency and disciplined decision making Support the Head of Marine, Energy & Aviation during peer reviews and team leadership Monitor market conditions and identify opportunities for growth, cross-selling and diversification. Contribute to reporting, exposure analysis and portfolio monitoring Mentor junior underwriters and support skill development across the team Qualifications and experience Bachelor's degree Professional insurance qualification (ACII, CPCU, ARe) preferred 5+ years of experience in international Specialty / P&C lines Proven track record underwriting both new and renewal business with disciplined decision making Strong, established relationships with brokers and clients across global markets Experience contributing to team development or mentoring junior staff Solid understanding of global reinsurance markets, coverage structures and nuances Knowledge of pricing methodology aggregates and exposure management tools Awareness of market trends, portfolio behaviour and drivers influencing Speciality classes. Strong analytical capability with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail Excellent communication and relationship building skills, with confidence presenting and discussing risks Ability to work effectively across functions (actuarial, risk, legal, finance) with sound prioritisation under pressure Professionalism, integrity and a willingness to travel as needed to maintain market relationships.
