On behalf of our client, they are actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Underwriter to join Nautilus Indemnity Limited, a Bermuda based captive insurance company that provides insurance to one of the world’s leading professional services organisations. This role will report to the Chief Underwriting Officer and is responsible for managing the underwriting of the insurance and reinsurance programs of the Nautilus group. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: •Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Nautilus Financial Lines and Employee Benefits Underwriting teams •Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of data and pricing models used in the underwriting process •Responsible for review and challenge of the actuarial assumptions and inputs used in the reserving and underwriting processes •Monitoring of the financial performance of the insurance programs •Ensuring the timely preparation and issuance of the policy documentation •Leading the preparation of the annual underwriting plans •Leading the design and implementation of new insurance products •Evaluating the impact of new insurance products on Nautilus’ capital position •Liaising with external counsel to ensure appropriate policy wordings are in place •Ensuring policies are issued in compliance with local regulatory requirements and relevant sanctions regimes •Identifying and assessing the risks associated with the underwriting function and ensuring effective controls are followed •Building relationships with reinsurance markets and leading renewal negotiations •Management responsibility for underwriting team personnel.

Requirements

•A Bachelor’s Degree; - Insurance, Accounting or Math related majors are advantageous •Professional Insurance Qualification such as ACII or CPCU is essential •At least 15 years of insurance experience, with a particular focus on designing global insurance programs for captives/multinationals •Technical underwriting experience of Financial Lines and Employee Benefits insurance products is essential •Experience of dealing with brokers and reinsurance markets is essential •Ability to communicate effectively at senior levels with both internal and external stakeholders •Ability to understand and assess insurance policy wordings •Strong analytical skills with a good understanding of actuarial analysis •Advanced Excel skills •Detailed understanding of the insurance regulatory environment in Bermuda and Europe (Solvency II) •Experience with capital modelling software, particularly ReMetrica, would be advantageous •Willingness to be flexible with working hours to meet the needs of the business and the ability to travel overseas when necessary.
