Senior Catastrophe Risk Analyst

The Senior Catastrophe Risk Analyst is responsible for the Catastrophe modelling of the Bermuda reinsurance book as well as the processing of quotes through binding and assisting in the technical underwriting of the portfolio. Providing technical advice, support and exposure management for the Bermuda Reinsurance business unit. Key Responsibilities: . CAT Modelling all contract types for the Bermuda Business Unit. This will include but is not limited to business emanating from Property and Specialty Accounts. Lines of business include General and Technical Property, Marine Cargo, Upstream Energy, Terrorism and CyberCube. CAT Modelling of inwards Property Retro in support of the Canopius ILS unit Quarterly roll up of the C Re Portfolio in RMS and other proprietary platforms Quarterly investor reporting for Canopius ILS including but not limited to production of EP Curves, YLTS, Subject Premiums Provide analytical support for outwards retrocessional purchases including CAT Bonds and quota shares. Continually improve overall modelling efficiency and capabilities Support the CUO and Group Exposure Management Team with annual planning and portfolio optimization Experience and requirements: 5 years' Cat Modelling experience Strong understanding of the reinsurance market and at least one major vendor catastrophe Model. A Degree in an analytical discipline (Maths, Science, Engineering, Economics) Highly numerate and logical - strong mathematical/ statistical knowledge a must. Ability to manipulate large data sets in Excel and SQL. Advanced Experience with MS SQL desired. Ability to build/design and manipulate queries to improve processes Familiarity with programming languages such as VBA, .NET, R, Python is an advantage. Qualification in Natural Hazards such as the NHFI or similar is beneficial but not essential. Excellent business, oral and written communication skills Strong Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel) strong aptitude for learning new programs A creative self-starter able to apply knowledge to solve complex issues as they arise.
