Head Of Claims, Bermuda

On behalf of our client Canopius Underwriting Bermuda Limited, we are looking to fill the role of Head of Claims, Bermuda in their local office. The primary focus of this role is to ensure delivery and maintain oversight of an effective, efficient and high-quality claims function at Canopius Reinsurance Limited. In addition, the Head of Claims, Bermuda will also represent the global reinsurance business for group related claims initiatives and be a member of the Claims Leadership Team. Key Responsibilities: Monitor and manage daily claims activities across related classes of business Evaluate and approve payment for claims within designated claims paying authority Evaluate liability exposures and recommend accurate and timely reserves Keep up to date with relevant legal developments and keep underwriters, actuaries and management informed Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements Maintain strong relationships with key clients and brokers Establish and monitor performance against claims KPIs Manage outstanding LOCs to ensure these accurately reflect outstanding liabilities Analyse complex losses and monitor industrywide developments and estimates Work closely with the Bermuda actuaries and underwriters to monitor actual versus expected performance of all treaty business Work closely with Bermuda CFO to accurately establish cashflow projections Work with outwards reinsurance in establishing the coverage, extent, notification and collection of ceded recoveries on a timely basis. Compile and distribute monthly reinsurance claims reports Monitor, manage, and approve the adjustment of professional liability insurance claims emanating from the Insurance business Collaborate with relevant teams and Execs in quarterly reserving process Perform claims audits or evaluate third party claims audits Ensure compliance with all internal controls, processes and reporting requirements Lead complex claims settlement process Experience and requirements: At least 10 years of claims experience with 5 years minimum in treaty reinsurance Strong technical competency and expertise in P&C lines Expertise with reinsurance contractual terms and structures Experience in complex arbitrations, mediations and negotiations Knowledge of both Lloyds and Bermuda marketplace preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and knowledge of Tableau or Power BI preferred Excellent, impactful communication with a desire for excellence and high standards Recognized industry designation - ARe, AIC or other preferred The ability to drive and implement change Commitment to continuous improvement in all activities

Requirements
