BELCO is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Helper to join our Bulk Generation team, who will assist with the maintenance of diesel engines, gas turbines and auxiliary plant. The successful applicant will support Mechanical Fitters by carrying out semi-skilled maintenance work and labouring duties.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities: Preparation of workshops, equipment, tools, spare parts and materials for maintenance work. Collect spare parts and materials from inventory and warehouse. Basic dismantling and reassembly of mechanical/auxiliary equipment. Requires lifting of tooling and spare parts along with maneuvering heavy parts by crane, trolley and forklift. Lubrication duties of engine/auxiliary equipment for corrosion protection. Clean, paint, polish and refurbish engine/auxiliary parts. Clean work areas before and after maintenance intervals. Ability to work overtime, including after hours, nights and weekends. Experience with operating hoists and crane; Operator certification considered an asset. Basic knowledge of mechanical tools and equipment. Ability to lift items and equipment up to 60lbs. Excellent observational skills. Excellent mental and visual concentration with the ability to work in a demanding environment (noisy, hot and oily). Ability to lift and move tools and equipment of limited weight, climb and work in confined spaces. Ability to follow verbal or written instructions. Ability to work in a team environment to ensure safe and efficient execution of work. Excellent time management skills. Motivated, focused and results driven. Education, Experience and Skills: High School leaving certificate or equivalent. Knowledge of standard labouring practices in an industrial environment along with knowledge of industrial safety and environmental practices. Experience with operating tools and machinery; Forklift license considered an asset. BELCO is a drug, alcohol and smoke free environment.
