Somersfield Academy, an International Baccalaureate World School offering both the Middle Years (MYP) and Diploma Programmes (DP) following a Primary foundation of a fully recognisedMontessori programme, is seeking faculty to deliver the IB Middle Years (MYP) and Diploma Programmes (DP) starting January 2026 for the following teaching position of Language Acquisition Teacher in French and/or Spanish. We Value: A diverse and inclusive learning community Trust, independence and authentic responsibility Growth and personal achievement Respect for self and others Intellectual curiosity The strength and courage to stand for what is right Key Responsibilities: Develop & teach IB programme subject lessons of French and/or Spanish Develop curriculum and units of study Foster an appreciation of language acquisition for students Position students for success on IB required coursework and examinations Ensure that parents are kept informed of both the programme and their child's development Establish and uphold classroom routines to ensure a focused, safe & caring environment Prepare and standardise student coursework for IB moderation Maintain high-but appropriate-expectations for the progress and achievement of all students Analyse assessment data, using it to plan and differentiate class instruction Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices to support student progress Embrace the school's statement of diversity, participating in all diversity based initiatives Required qualification, skills & experience: Bachelors or Masters degree in relevant subject B. Ed. or PGCE in Education Teaching license from the Bermuda Educators Council (BEC) or qualified to be licensed Minimum of 3 years teaching experience Knowledge and/or experience in teaching IB MYP/DP Language Acquisition courses Somersfield Academy is committed to safeguarding the children of Bermuda and supports the International Task Force on Child Protection.
