Ophthalmic Technician

Our client, Insight Ltd., is seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Technician to join their growing team. Based in Hamilton, Bermuda, Insight is a busy single-doctor practice in a small community. This role requires an energetic, independent, detailed and caring individual, dedicated to delivering excellence in patient care. Responsibilities will include: • Performing preliminary eye examinations and diagnostic testing (e.g., visual acuity, refraction, tonometry, visual fields, OCT, fundus photography). • Accurately recording patient medical and ocular histories. • Assisting ophthalmologists during examinations and minor procedures. • Educating patients on eye care, treatment plans, and proper use of corrective lenses or medications. • Maintaining equipment, ensuring calibration, and following safety and infection control protocols. • Supporting efficient clinical flow by preparing patients and managing records in the electronic medical system.

Requirements

Candidate Requirements: A minimum of 5 years of experience performing a wide range of ophthalmic diagnostic testing, including OCT, biometry, tonometry, visual fields and fundus photography. • Competence in surgical assistance is required and proficiency with ophthalmic equipment. • Completion of an approved training program (COA/COT/CRNO) and at least 5 years of experience in ophthalmic assisting or ophthalmic nursing, would be an asset.
