Pharmacist/diabetes Educator

The Bermuda Diabetes Association (BDA) is seeking a full-time Pharmacist and Diabetes Educator who is knowledgeable and passionate about diabetes prevention and serving people living with diabetes. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working as a member of a multi-disciplinary diabetes care team delivering diabetes awareness, prevention and care services. All standard retail pharmacy duties including, but are not limited to, ordering, stocking, dispensing, follow-up care and counselling customers and their caregivers. Educating individuals by providing structured medication assessments. Providing outreach services on matters relating to prevention of diabetes, diabetes care, and optimizing medication use, through presentations and events. Delivering health screenings and vaccination clinics. Contributing to the development and implementation of innovative programs and services to increase diabetes awareness and improve health outcomes. Works well within a small multi-disciplinary team. Must be willing to work evenings and occasional week ends. BPharm, MPharm or PharmD with seven (7) years of pharmacy experience as a registered Pharmacist including at least three (3) years working in multi-disciplinary teams providing diabetes care and education. Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or similar diabetes certification. Licensed by the Bermuda Pharmacy Council or meets the licensing requirements. Working knowledge and experience with diabetes technologies including continuous glucose monitors and insulin pumps. Experience with supervising and coaching team members is preferred. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Extensive knowledge of diabetes treatment, management, new and emerging diabetes medications and clinical guidelines. Highly efficient prescription dispensing with excellent attention to details and safety. Strong aptitude for developing and maintaining excellent relationships with colleagues, clients, suppliers and health professionals. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and electronic pharmacy software applications. Must have a proven track record of being a proactive person who is friendly, responsible and works well in a small team.

Requirements

BPharm, MPharm or PharmD with seven (7) years of pharmacy experience as a registered Pharmacist including at least three (3) years working in multi-disciplinary teams providing diabetes care and education. Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or similar diabetes certification. Licensed by the Bermuda Pharmacy Council or meets the licensing requirements.
