
As a Meteorological Forecaster, you will be responsible for monitoring the weather and producing forecasts, watches, and warnings for aviation, marine, and the public interest in accordance with ICAO/WMO and local standards.
A recognized Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology with one year of operational experience as a forecaster or, a recognized Bachelor of Science in Mathematics or Science with three years of forecasting experience in an operational environment. In lieu of a degree, applicants with ten years of forecasting experience in an operational meteorological forecasting environment may also be considered. Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) including the ability to present, speak to the public and deal with clients at all levels internal and external to the organization. A strong sense of loyalty, motivation, dedication and a high degree of commitment and interest/passion for weather. Ability to balance teamwork with the ability to work independently. A demonstrated ability to make rapid and effective decisions in reaction to changing weather patterns as well as the ability to react calmly and prioritize effectively during periods of high activity and workload. A level of comfort and professionalism when dealing with clients at all levels including the public, the media, police, and emergency services. Able to cope with pressure, make timely decisions and solve complex problems on your own. The following will be assets: Prior experience working with the Bermuda Weather Service. Being certified as having completed aeronautical forecaster training approved by the World Meteorological Organization/International Civil Aviation Organisation. Prior experience working with IBL’s Visual Weather meteorological software. Prior tropical and marine weather forecasting experience.
