Aspen is looking for a Financial Controller, Aspen Bermuda Limited.
Key Accountabilities:
• Manage the input and areas of Finance responsibility for the submissions of regulatory reports to the Bermuda Monetary Authority.
• Inputs to and translates organisation vision and Finance strategy into operational deliverables and provides tactical leadership and support to managers to achieve positive results for the division in line with strategy.
• Develops and implement an appropriate governance framework to ensure best practice and compliance with internal and external regulations.
• Coordinate finance compliance with all respective SOX control procedures.
• Overall Controllership for GAAP reporting.
• Interpret GAAP accounting and monitoring of complex/high risk activities, including, among other items, assumed reinsurance agreements, GWP estimates and revisions, Loss Sensitive accruals, variable commission expense, intangible assets and other key balance sheet accounts.
• Manage all month-end and quarter close activities and all financial reporting.
• Prepare audited financial statements and schedules.
• Provide input into the Tax team for inclusion in financials, accruals and guidance on direct and indirect tax amounts..
• Oversight of platform Credit Control function.
• Manage the Bermuda Offshore team, actively mentors team members in order to assist their personal development.
• Liaise with appropriate capital modelling responsible parties to provide support for Bermuda capital modelling activities. To the extent required, provide oversight of the management of Bermuda currency exposure requirements.
Skills & Experience:
• Minimum 10 years of experience of Financial accounting and reporting in the insurance / financial services industry.
• Internationally recognized accounting designation (CA, ACA, CPA or equivalent).
• Understanding of US statutory insurance and GAAP insurance/reinsurance reporting requirements.
• Demonstrated success in managing relationships with internal business customers at a senior level.
• Proven success in managing cross functional teams and matrix management and experience managing qualified accountants.
• Experience with project management/ co-ordination, including managing multiple complex projects to quality, time and budget.
