Nursing Assistant

The Nursing Assistant works under the direction of the Nurse Manager to provide nursing assistance and support. Ensuring efficient and effective nursing services to Caring Hands Ltd residents. To provide various services to assist them with activities of daily living in which to maintain their general health. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Works under the direction of the Nurse Manager and performs the following duties: 1. Works meticulously with all residents daily under the direction of the Nurse Manager. 2. Maintains Caring Hands Ltd operational policies and procedures. 3. Providing direct care to assist residents with basic care requirements and maintain their wellbeing as needed. 4. Observes and examines all residents for physical and cognitive changes in their health such as but not limited to falls, confusion, wounds, bruises, changes in urine or stool, any other health concerns and reporting to the Nurse Manager. 5. Obtaining a wide range of information from Doctors, Registered Nurse, Caregivers and other multidisciplinary healthcare providers regarding any resident’s condition, treatment plans, suggested activities and reporting to the Nurse Manager. 6. Daily monitoring and recording of vital signs which include blood pressure, blood sugar levels, pulse, temperature and respiration rate and reporting to the Nurse Manager. 7. Informs the Nurse Manager of all occurrences, including changes in the residents’ condition. 8. Answers residents calls and determining how best to assist them. 9. Ensuring residents receive appropriate diet by reviewing their dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences. 10. Assist with the serving of meals and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals. 11. Toileting, bathing and dressing residents to maintain resident’s hygiene. 12. Washing and changing of bedding. 13. Turn, reposition and move patients between wheelchairs, seats and beds. 14. Providing physical support for residents such as daily activities, walking, standing and exercising. 15. This description is not exhaustive, you will be expected to carry out any reasonable duties which may be requested from time-to-time within your scope of practice.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications and Experience: Certification with an accredited Nursing Assistant training course, Maintains License from the Bermuda Nursing Council, Proven work experience as a Nursing Assistant, Maintains current CPR in Basic Life Support, Maintains current Manual Handling certification, Current driver’s license; Required Competencies, Skills and Abilities: Understands legal implications of patient care, Good foundation of clinical skills and knowledge, Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology, Knowledge of relevant nursing care for elderly patients, Excellent attention to detail, Ability to carefully read and follow directions, Ability to lift and move patients, Friendly and professional, Excellent interpersonal skills, Effective verbal, written, and reading communication skills, Multi-tasking skills, Good teamwork skills, Displays patience, compassion and empathy, Flexibility in work duties and schedule.
