FACILITIES SUPERVISOR Reporting to the Assistant Facilities Manager, the Facilities Supervisor, KEMH is responsible for supervising and coordinating the activities of employees and contractors engaged in the maintenance and repair of building infrastructure and engineering systems across the Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB). This includes developing work schedules, assigning tasks, and overseeing the quality and completion of work. The role may also support new construction projects and modifications to existing facilities and performs other related duties as assigned. Key responsibilities include: Supervising and coordinating the work of directly employed technicians, labourers, and assigned contractors, ensuring timely and effective execution of tasks. Planning and monitoring repair and maintenance work, including the preparation of work schedules, task assignments, and oversight of work outcomes for BHB's non-clinical services. Reviewing and validating work order requests through on-site assessments, identifies required resources, and inspects completed work for quality and completeness. Undertaking regular and ad hoc facility inspections to identify defective elements and potential hazards, ensuring compliance with statutory and non-statutory regulations (for example, Health & Safety at Work Act), and internal policies. Participating in staff selection, coordinates training development, conducts performance evaluations, and makes disciplinary recommendations as directed. Assisting in the development and implementation of team goals, performance standards, and operational procedures, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) Monitoring staff attendance and manages related administrative processes. Participating in the Facilities Directorate On-Call Rota, supporting emergency and other-hours response as needed. Qualifications & Requited Registrations: Completion of a recognised trade apprenticeship and certification in supervisory management or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role, preferably within a facilities management or technical services environment Demonstrated experience using Facilities Management Information Systems (FMIS) and other relevant IT platforms in a facilities operations context HEAD ELECTRICIAN The principal duties of the Head Electrician include the repair, service and maintenance of the Bermuda Hospital Boards including Community Homes, electrical power distribution, auxiliary and control systems, Maintaining recoeds and information pertinent to work assignments, such as completing work orders generated by the computerized maintenance man Maintaining records on equipment operations and repairs including owner's manuals Provides technical assistance and advice as directed by the Facilities Supervisor Adhering to the department's established policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance and safety guidelines Performing maintenance and repairs to the electrical power distribution systems Installing electrical circuits and all types of electrical equipment and appliances including grounding loads, new branches, lighting fixtures, switches, life safety and other circuits as nooded using the appropriate tools. +Inspecting electrical lighting, emergency generators, and alarm systems, communications systems. Participating in educational programs and in-service meetings Trade or vocational school diploma/certificate with courses in blue print reading, electrical mathematics and physics Four (4) year apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job training. Must have knowledge of electrical sections of public building and safety codes Demonstrated verbal communication to supervisor, staff, contractors, and others HOUSE MASON/PAINTER Under the supervision of the Mason Painter, is responsible to provide painting services to meet the goals and objectives of the Facilities Management Department, Consulting daily with supervisor concerning assignments, activities needs and problems. Repairing and painting walls, ceilings, floors, wooden and metal frames, wood and metal furniture. Using painting tools such as potty kuves, scrappers, wire brushes, paintbrushes, rollers, spray guns, sanding machines, drop cloths, stepladders, blowtorches and other related tools. Assisting in the inventory checks of painting tools and equipment. Assisting in the ordering of paint and other supplies. Upon request assist others in general maintenance work, EVENING HANDYPERSON The Handyperson performs a variety of duties in and around the buildings of King Edward Memorial Hospital to ensure that equipment and the building are kept in a good state of repair. Replacing light fixtures, bulb tubes, outlets and switches. Maintaining stoves, water sanitizers, nurses call system and filter on air conditioning units. Repairing water taps, toilets, drain pipes and descales equipment as necessary. Replacing windowpanes, sash cords, doorknobs and bolts, Performing rough carpentry work such as cutting and fastioning parts for furniture and other wooden articles. Replacing ceiling tiles as needed Repairing all types of chairs, beds, ripple mattresses and bedside rails. Assisting tradesmen when carrying out specific functions in the area, ie, mason, painter, electrician, carpenter, plumber or air conditioning technician, Qualifications & Registration required: Trade or vocational school diploma certificate Four (4) year apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job training Demonstrated verbal communication to supervisor, staff and others GENERAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (Part time) The principal duties of a General Maintenance Person (Weekends/Public Holiday) inchade the inspecting, minor repairs, services and maintenance of the Bermuda Hospital Board's facilities carpentry, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, boilers, air conditioning, laundry and dietary systems. These duties also include assisting other trades when overtime is being performed Repairing sinks, shower, toilets Repairing lens and open clogged drains beles, lubricates motors Completing scheduled preventive maintenance on fan coil units, icemakers and windows a/c units. Checking and recording operating conditions of equipment in all mechanical rooms. Maintaining records and information pertinent to work assignments, such as completing work orders generated by the GTE Health Systems (GTEHS) computerized maintenance system. Maintaining records on equipment operations and repairs including owner's manuals. Providing written estimates on work related repairs, modifications, fabrications, replacement and/or new construction. projects as requested. Providing written instruction on department's Request Form when requiring materials to be purchased.
