The Director of People and Culture plays a key leadership role in fostering a positive workplace, supporting staff well-being, and aligning HR strategies with the school's mission. Reporting to the Head of School and serving on the Leadership Team, this role oversees strategic and operational HR functions while advising leadership on staff operations, compliance, and organizational culture. Key Responsibilities fall into the following broad areas: Strategic Leadership & HR Operations Lead and oversee all HR functions, supervising the Administrator and ensuring operational excellence. Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and programs that align with the school's goals. Advise leadership on HR matters, providing expert guidance on workforce planning and compliance. Talent & Culture Development Provide coaching, training, and guidance to leadership and managers. Lead employee engagement initiatives, feedback programs, and career development strategies. Champion DEI initiatives, working closely with leadership and the Board's DEI Committee. Employee Relations & Compliance Handle complex employee relations matters, ensuring timely, fair resolutions. Oversee legal and regulatory compliance, including work permit policies. Serve as management chair of the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Talent Acquisition & Performance Management Manage full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding. Oversee performance management and leadership development programs. Develop strategic workforce planning initiatives to address future staffing needs. Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Oversee payroll processing, compensation benchmarking, and benefits administration. Negotiate benefits with providers and ensure fiscal accountability for HR budgets. Employee Health & Wellness Develop wellness programs, mental health resources, and workplace accommodations. Partner with external providers for wellness initiatives and resilience-building strategies. Reporting & Continuous Improvement Provide HR reports and strategic insights to the Head of School. Leverage HR technology and data analytics to enhance operations. Stay current with best practices, recommending process improvements.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field (HR certification such as SHRM, CIPD, or CHRP preferred). 10+ years of HR experience, with at least 5 years in a management capacity. Proven leadership in HR strategy, compliance, and talent management. Strong knowledge of Bermuda's Employment Act, work permit policies, and labor laws. Experience managing employee relations, payroll, and benefits in a fast-paced setting. Expertise in HRIS systems, digital HR tools, and data-driven decision-making. Experience in education or non-profits is an asset. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed. As a member of the senior leadership team, your attendance at various School functions is always welcome and occasionally required.
