Our clients, BF&M and Argus, are seeking a Head of Risk. The Head of Risk is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of an integrated risk management framework for all aspects of risk across BF&M and Argus. Reporting directly to the EVP, Group Chief Capital & Risk Officer in Bermuda, the Head of Risk plays a critical role in embedding a strong risk culture leading risk assessment and mitigation strategies, supporting regulatory compliance, and aligning risk appetite with the companies' strategic objectives. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Responsible for the on-going development and maintenance of the companies' Risk Management Framework, including effective governance structure, policies, procedures, and controls Responsible for oversight and implementing an effective operational risk management framework and incident management program Continuously review the risk appetite statements for the companies. Establish and evolve appropriate mechanisms for the measurement and monitoring of risks against the companies' risk appetite and tolerances Responsible for leading the companies and regulated entity own risk and solvency self- assessments (e.g. GSSA/CISSA/ORSA), to comply with best practices for Bermuda's BMA and European SII requirements. Working closely with subject matter experts from the businesses including actuarial, investments, finance, and compliance Enhance strategic risk management (for new strategic initiatives and business plans) in collaboration with various stakeholders Ensures the timely renewal of the companies' corporate insurance covers (e.g. D&O) and ensure continued appropriateness of coverage in line with the risk appetite Monitor and assess the external and internal environment for emerging risks (including Climate Change and ESG regulatory requirements) which could impact the companies' businesses Oversee risk reporting and presentation of risks to Executive Management and the Risk Committees of the Board Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience: Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Business, or Economics) 8 years of recent work experience in a risk management function within an insurance company or with an insurance regulator, with at least 3 years of previous experience in a management role Certification in Risk Management (e.g. CERA, CMIRM, CRM, FRM, PRM) or passing of Actuarial-related exams Experience in risk management work under the Bermuda Monetary Authority Insurance Code of Conduct, or Solvency II framework is preferred Strong working knowledge of ORSA/CISSA/GSSA under Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirements or Solvency II preferred Experience in quantitative data analysis, stress testing exercises or working closely with an Actuarial or Modelling Team Strong working knowledge of ESG frameworks and climate change principles for risk management Extensive experience in operational risk or incident management Strong proficiency of the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams) Excellent business communication, organizational, analytical and project management skills Ability to work with minimal supervision using initiative and judgment to make sound decisions within tight deadlines Proven ability to work collaboratively with other stakeholders
