Lancashire Insurance Company Limited is hiring a Lancashire Insurance Company Limited (LICL), a member of the Lancashire Insurance Group, is seeking an experienced Claims professional to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the operational and technical control of all Bermuda claims activity and will lead an efficient, effective and driven team in the successful delivery of the key objectives of the business in line with regulatory best practices, all relevant legislation and legal frameworks.
The candidate will also oversee the efficacy of our reserving practices across Property, Specialty and Casualty Reinsurance claims and ensure operational functionality across each of those classes. Additional responsibilities include ensuring a collegiate and collaborative approach to the management of Property Reinsurance claims across our Bermuda and Lloyds platforms, while respecting our Group Operating guidelines is maintained.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the Group Head of Claims in the successful delivery of the Group Claims strategy.
Ensure the Bermuda claims function is adequately and suitably resourced with skilled and knowledgeable practitioners, underpinned by a strong claims culture.
Deliver a high-quality claims service which includes prompt and fair customer service, with efficient and effective claim management.
Ensure claims management forms an integral, clearly defined component of the business planning process.
Ensure a consistent approach to the claims management process across Property, Specialty and Casualty reinsurance claims.
Ensure adequacy of reserve for all Bermuda claims activity.
Ensure claims are handled efficiently and effectively with active claims and lifecycle management.
Stay abreast of the regulatory environment governing the classes of business under your purview.
Protect the Company's interests in relation to disputed claims and claims in litigation.
Develop and maintain relations with internal stakeholders and key business functions such as underwriting, actuarial, finance risk and audit.
Elevate the profile of the LICL claims team with internal and external stakeholders.
Primary oversight of internal and external peer review and audit.
Catastrophe response as required.
Maintain procedural documentation that attests to the approach used for claims handling.
Seek efficiencies in all current processes and implement change where appropriate.
Identify skill gaps within the LICL claims team and develop specifically tailored training plans to address the individual requirements of the team.
Develop the profile of the LICL claims team with the broader Bermudian claim's community.
Produce weekly / monthly MI claims and reporting packs.At least 5 years' experience in a similar position within the reinsurance industry.
University degree and/or professional insurance qualification preferred (ACII, AIC, CPCU).
Strong understanding of insurance / reinsurance principles and markets.
Experience handling Casualty claims preferred.
Excellent numeracy and analytical skills.
Accuracy and attention to detail with high standards.
Excellent communications skills and interpersonal skills.
Able to work effectively under pressure, both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
