Pillar Capital Management Limited is hiring a Pillar is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Underwriting Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative and technical support to our Underwriting team in Bermuda.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist Underwriters in the pre-underwriting process by gathering, downloading and organizing all relevant information from brokers and clients.
Assist with the preparation and filing of all post-underwriting documentation, including deal memos, contracts, emails, claims information, etc., within the Underwriting system and any other relevant business systems
Peer review the models and data in the Underwriting system for completeness and accuracy.
Maintain a paperless filing system and ensure file completeness and accuracy in line with Pillar's policy and procedures
Scan meeting notes and presentations and file them electronically for the Underwriting Team
Attend underwriting meetings, set up one-on-ones with each underwriter to go through their list of duties, and report to management
Manage diaries, scheduling meetings, and prepare relevant correspondence for all Underwriters
Liaise effectively with internal departments (e.g., finance, claims) and external stakeholders (e.g., brokers, clients) to obtain necessary information and resolve queries.
Liaise with the Finance team on the establishment of trusts and collateral management, and the timely flow of premium payments.
Contribute to the overall improvement of underwriting processes and workflows
Assist with special projects as required2 - 5 years of underwriting assistant/technical assistant or related industry experience. Familiarity with underwriting processes and reinsurance terminology.
Preference will be given to candidates in possession of, or progression towards, an industry-related certification (i.e. ACII, Are, ARM, CPCU, etc.).
Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of applications, particularly in Excel, Word and Outlook; proficiency in PowerPoint will be considered a bonus
Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team, while using initiative to prioritize and self-manage completing assignments in an efficient and organized manner and within established deadlines. Ability to work overtime as and when required.
Strong organizational, time management and analytical skills. Attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
This role is also suited to a recent graduate with 2-3 years of related industry experience.
