Financial Intelligence Agency is hiring a The Financial Intelligence Agency (Agency or FIA) is seeking the services of a skilled and capable individual to work as the Senior Strategic Analyst in the Intelligence Section, reporting to the Head of Analysis. This role is instrumental in enhancing the FIA's intelligence capabilities by conducting robust strategic and tactical analysis. Strategic analysis is a key part of our work at the FIU, playing a vital role in informing internal practices and procedures as well as supporting the production and dissemination of outreach materials to a wide range of public and private stakeholders. This work helps to shape national AML/CFT strategies, supports effective supervision and enforcement, and enhances Bermuda's ability to proactively respond to emerging risks.
The Senior Strategic Analyst is responsible for conducting regular strategic analysis to identify areas of risk, emerging trends, sectoral vulnerabilities, and evolving money laundering and terrorist financing typologies. In addition to these broader assessments, the Analyst performs tactical analysis on specific data subsets to detect actionable patterns and trends, facilitating the early identification and escalation of potential threats. A key function of the role is ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of financial intelligence. The Senior Strategic Analyst will also be responsible for creating, maintaining, updating, and analyzing the FIA's intelligence database, ensuring high data quality and operational efficiency. The Analyst will manage assigned workloads from the Head of Analysis or the Director and is expected to demonstrate autonomy and initiative in executing duties.
In addition to analytical responsibilities, the Senior Strategic Analyst will serve as a Training Officer, supporting the development and capacity-building of junior analysts. The role also includes providing managerial support to the Head of Analysis and acting in that capacity when necessary on a temporary basis. This is a highly collaborative and strategically vital position that contributes significantly to Bermuda's efforts to combat financial crime at both the national and international levels.
The successful candidate for the role of Senior Strategic Analyst will be required to demonstrate the following:
Possess knowledge of both Bermuda primary and secondary anti-money laundering ("AML") and countering financing of terrorism
("CFT") legislation, including rules and policies.
Have at least 6 years of professional experience in matters related to AML and CFT intelligence work/analysis, within a national financial intelligence unit (FIU).
Have at least 3 years of experience in managing a small team.
Have strong analytical and investigative skills with a proven ability to identify significant factors and trends, gather pertinent data and produce solutions.
Have a strong proven knowledge and practical experience on the use and support with GOAML or other comparable analytical and online Suspicious Activity Reports ("SARs") reporting software.
Have experience in strategic and tactical intelligence analysis, including the use of advanced analytical methodologies to detect financial crime patterns.
Demonstrate expertise in data analysis, using structured analytical techniques to assess risk areas.
Be proficient in intelligence tools and software, including 12 Analyst's Notebook, Tableau, Power BI, or comparable analytical platforms.
Have an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Bermuda Monetary Authority, the Ministry of Finance, the Bermuda Police Service, other Bermuda Government Authorities, the financial services industry and their relationship with the FIA and its overseas counterparts would be an asset.
Possess strong stakeholder engagement skills to collaborate with law enforcement agencies, regulators, and international FIUs.
Have excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to produce well-structured intelligence products.
Have proven strong interpersonal skills.
Have experience in handling sensitive intelligence with a high level of confidentiality and security awareness.
Be highly proficient in the use of the Microsoft Suite of applications.
Demonstrate the ability to train and mentor junior analysts in advanced analytical methodologies.
Evidence of prior positive security vetting would be beneficial.
Educational Requirements:
A degree in law, criminal justice, intelligence analysis, statistics, finance, or a related field from a recognized university; or
A minimum of 6 years of experience in financial intelligence, risk assessment, or strategic analysis within an FIU.
Accreditation as a Financial Investigator/Analyst or equivalent certification is desirable.
