COUNSELLOR ASSISTANT

We seek qualified, highly motivated, and experienced professionals to work in a supportive but demanding environment. The successful candidate will facilitate the interventions for clients seeking addiction treatment through counselling, medication assistance and medical detox. The post is for a fixed term only, for trainees seeking to be certified with an internationally recognized counselling credential through the Bermuda Addiction Certification Board. Key responsibilities include: Conducts initial intake and assessment on clients and makes recommendations for treatment Identifies presenting problems based on the intake and assessment and collateral sources Identifies the signs and symptoms of substance use disorder Collaborates with Client to develop treatment plans and reviews based on Organizational requirements Reviews the treatment plan as necessary Implements treatment plans under clinical supervision and in keeping with established practice guidelines and clinical standards Qualifications & Registration required: Associate's Degree in a Behavioural Health field, pursuing certification as an Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counsellor (ICADC) Minimum of one (1) year full-time work experience as an Associate Counsellor, Alcohol and Other Drugs (ACAD) or current intern in an accredited Bachelor's Degree programme in Behavioural Health Registered member in good standing with the Bermuda Addiction Certification Board on completion of education requirements within two (2) years of start of employment in role Registration with the Allied Health Council on completion of education requirements within two (2) years of start of employment in role If in recovery, must have a minimum of two (2) years of sobriety
