
Our landmark facility in Bermuda, specializing in providing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)/Verbal Behavior (VB) Therapy for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Developmental Disabilities, is looking for a professional Verbal Behavior Therapist to join our already established team of professionals. Tomorrows Voices serves clients from 2-21 in our Early Intervention Centre (EIC) and 21 years and above in our Thriving Beyond 21 Programme. The Verbal Behavior Therapist would provide services and strategies for clients as they transition from infancy through adulthood. Working under the direction of the Senior Verbal Behaviour Therapists, Senior Staff and Executive Director, the Verbal Behavior Therapist will be responsible for carrying out daily hands-on one-on-one treatment to clients with Autism and other Developmental Disabilities. Successful candidates must have previous hands-on experience working with clients using ABA with a heavy emphasis on B. F. Skinners Analysis of Verbal Behavior. The post holders must have previous experience using the ABLLS and VB-MAPP curriculum tools. The Therapist must have a basic understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior. Experience working with clients with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities is essential. The Verbal Behavior Therapist must be able to design and implement behavioral strategies with the clients and their families within the Centre, home, community and school environments. A minimum of 2 years commitment is required for this position.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience-A minimum of two (2) years of prior professional and relevant experience is required for this post. This includes prior experience working with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Developmental Disabilities using Applied Behavior Analysis. -Bachelors degree in applied behavior analysis, psychology, behavioral psychology, special education or equivalent is required. -At least 2 years of prior hands-on experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Developmental Disabilities using B.F. Skinners Analysis of Verbal Behavior. -Knowledge of the research and literature on the causes, correlates, and treatments of Autism and the disorders under the Autism Spectrum is required. -Previous experience using the ABLLS and VB-MAPP curriculum tools. -Thorough knowledge of ABA and at least 2 year of prior hands-on experience using ABA with an emphasis on B.F. Skinners Analysis of Verbal Behavior. -Therapist must be able to design and implement behavioral strategies with the clients and their families within the Centre, home, community, and other environments. -Clinical competence in behavior therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and family therapy and is required.Required Competencies, Skills and Abilities-As a Verbal Behavior Therapist, the post holder will develop programs for and work with all individuals who are clients at Tomorrows Voices. -The post holder must possess excellent organizational and communication abilities and strong negotiation and problem-solving skills. -The post holder will be required to work with the minimum of supervision. Must be able to work within a team environment as well as independently. -Excellent supervisory, communications, and interpersonal skills and a positive service oriented attitude is a must. This includes taking and giving directions. -Must have exceptional play skills, be highly motivated, patient, energetic, enthusiastic and compassionate while interacting with clients who are neurodiverse on a daily basis. -Must be creative and enjoy working with clients and their families. Must be passionate about improving the lives of clients of all ages (both children and adults). -Must have a passion for working in the field of psychology. -Must be able to work well within a structured environment with policies and protocols. -Familiarity with a computerized office environment that utilizes MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc. is required. -A minimum of 2 years commitment is required for this post.
