Find out more at www.hiscoxre.com Working within the RE&ILS Actuarial team, which is part of the wider Risk Team, you will be supporting our Specialty underwriting efforts on all lines of business, especially Cyber. Our role is to facilitate the understanding and management of the Underwriting Risk we are taking on, accessing the market and individual cedant data and using it in a way to make the optimal underwriting decisions. Your role will cover a range of areas, from individual treaty pricing to development of new pricing tools, to market insights and portfolio analysis. You'll also have opportunity to broaden your business knowledge by providing analyst support on other lines and aspects of reinsurance business. The role: Pricing individual submissions and preparing reports to communicate results to underwriters. Key input in the development and application of pricing models for use in all lines. Applying traditional methods and also drawing on new sources of data to best evaluate risks. Calculate loss trends to ensure accurate modelling of individual accounts as well as the portfolio as a whole. Determine and monitor the 'dials' (e.g. actual v expected loss emergence) to ensure any under-pricing is identified. Development and maintenance of RDS for your specific portfolio/ line of business. Profitability monitoring role: bridge between pricing and reserving. Development, maintenance and reporting of appropriate risk metrics for your specific portfolio/ line of business. Support and enhance underwriting and risk management by the collection and reporting of relevant data. Production of ad hoc portfolio reports, deep dives and profitability metrics. Provide general reinsurance actuarial/analytical support. Our must haves: Excellent mathematical and analytical skills and a demonstrated logical, numerical and structured approach to problem solving. Expertise in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications. High proficiency in working with and visualizing data and databases using mediums such as SQL/Snowflake and Tableau/Power Bl. Proficient in a coding language such as Python/R. Able to implement statistical techniques and data processing/visualization to enable the building of user-friendly interfaces to drive the business forward. Good understanding (technical and commercial) of the Insurance/reinsurance space. A driven individual and effective team player. Ability to prioritize work and manage effectively and accurately under pressure, ensuring that deadlines are met. Qualified or nearly qualified actuary with demonstrated progress towards actuarial designation. Nice to have: Experience in pricing (re)insurance. Related actuarial experience such as insurance reserving, capital modelling or reinsurance analytics.
