Our client, Arch Reinsurance Ltd. (Bermuda), provides specialty property, casualty and life reinsurance products through reinsurance intermediaries worldwide. These programs range from Property Catastrophe and Property Excess of Loss reinsurance to Professional Liability and Marine Treaties. Arch Re's Bermuda-based operation has a strong, proven management team, a commitment to underwriting discipline, and financial strength that is rated A+ (Superior) by A.M. Best and A+ by S&P. The Head of Facultative will be responsible for pricing and developing a significant book of facultative business in the Property, Casualty and Specialty reinsurance marketplace, on a worldwide basis The position will target very complex and structured placements requiring the utilization of advanced pricing techniques. The individual will report directly to the President, Arch Re Ltd. and will coordinate all stages of the pricing and underwriting process for the Facultative business. This position requires a thorough knowledge of Arch Re's pricing and modeling techniques, an in-depth understanding of the large commercial and industrial insurance property product and market, as well as being proficient in MS excel. Key Responsibilities: • Performing underwriting assessments, including risk analysis, engineering and risk survey reviews, natural perils exposure analysis and policy wording review. • Performing audits and maintaining market intelligence in respect of Property, Cyber and other Specialty Lines. • Pricing and analyzing various facultative reinsurance structures in Property and Casualty (Quota Share, Excess, Aggregate and others). • Managing and mentoring junior underwriting staff for the Facultative underwriting team. • Coordinating with the modeling team for both pricing and aggregation of natural perils on the property facultative portfolio. • Negotiating contracts and assuring profitability of business written. • Developing and maintaining client and broker relationships with specific emphasis on the London, Bermuda and other international markets. • Marketing to senior level clients and brokers. • Evaluating client financial objectives. Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • College or university degree. • Minimum of 12 years' experience in underwriting Property Facultative reinsurance as well as experience in Casualty and Specialty reinsurance. • Proven success in managing a team. • Strong knowledge of Cyber (Re)-Insurance. • Advanced knowledge and understanding of the RMS Catastrophe Modeling, including the ability to analyze and interpret its output. • Proficient in MS excel or access, with demonstrated experience creating advanced pricing tools to support day-to-day underwriting workflow. Strong relevant broker connections, both in the Bermuda and London market. Ability to organize and prioritize a demanding workload. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with management at a senior level.
