The Director of Policy & Regulation will play a critical role in leading the association's efforts to influence, monitor, and manage government and regulatory policies affecting life insurance and reinsurance companies. This individual will serve as the primary liaison between the association's member companies and key stakeholders, ensuring regulatory compliance, advocating for member interests, and keeping members informed of critical global regulatory changes. The Director will also lead various member committees and working groups, addressing issues that are key to the association and its members locally and globally. This role requires strategic thinking, exemplary organisational and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with both regulatory bodies and member companies. This is a full-time position and reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. Government and Policy Strategy: - Monitor, analyze, and respond to legislative and regulatory developments at the global and national levels that impact life insurance and reinsurance companies. - Advocate for member company interests by representing the association in discussions with the Bermuda Monetary Authority and other relevant regulatory bodies and key stakeholder groups. - Develop strategies and action plans to influence policy outcomes that protect and promote member companies. Member Relations and Communication: - Serve as the primary contact for member companies regarding regulatory and government affairs issues. - Keep members informed on emerging global regulatory trends and policies, providing timely updates, briefings, and reports. - Foster strong relationships with member companies to understand their regulatory needs and concerns, facilitating communication between members and regulatory bodies. Committee & Working Group Leadership: - Lead and manage member committees and working groups focused on key areas relevant to the insurance and reinsurance industries. - Coordinate regular committee and working group meetings, set agendas, and guide discussions to ensure that member interests are represented, and actionable outcomes are achieved. - Facilitate collaboration between committee and working group members to share best practices and develop industry-wide solutions to pressing challenges. Board Updates: - Collaborate with the CEO to ensure they are fully informed on government and regulatory matters that may need to be communicated to the board. - Provide the CEO with in-depth analysis, technical updates, and recommendations on policy changes, enabling them to effectively manage board communications. - Support the CEO in preparing materials or reports for board meetings on relevant regulatory issues, as needed. Other: - Represent the association at national or international meetings, as may be required. - Other special projects, as may be required. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, law, business, accounting or a related field. - Minimum of 8 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or regulatory roles, ideally within the insurance, reinsurance, or financial services sectors. - Proven abil ability to analyze complex regulatory issues and develop strategies to influence policy outcomes with respect to life and annuity (re)insurance. - Must have a strong understanding of the global regulatory environment, with specific knowledge of the Bermuda Monetary Authority a plus. - Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities and member companies. - Experience leading committees or working groups, with strong organizational and facilitation skills.
Requirements

Minimum of 8 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or regulatory roles, ideally within the insurance, reinsurance, or financial services sectors. Proven ability to analyze complex regulatory issues and develop strategies to influence policy outcomes with respect to life and annuity (re)insurance. Must have a strong understanding of the global regulatory environment, with specific knowledge of the Bermuda Monetary Authority a plus. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with regulatory authorities and member companies. Experience leading committees or working groups, with strong organizational and facilitation skills.
