BermudAir is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Officer to play a pivotal role in strengthening our Safety Management System (SMS) and fostering an exemplary safety culture. This critical position involves ensuring stringent compliance with international aviation safety standards, driving cross-departmental collaboration to elevate safety performance, and proactively implementing corrective measures to mitigate risks. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Manage and maintain comprehensive SMS documentation and records with meticulous accuracy. Contribute significantly to the development and rigorous updating of essential safety documents and procedures. Rigorously evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions, providing insightful reports and recommendations to the Safety Review Board (SRB). Actively champion and cultivate an open, non-punitive safety reporting culture throughout the organization, ensuring trust and transparency. Collaborate with the Head of Safety to define, monitor, and continuously refine Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) that drive strategic improvements. Conduct in-depth analysis of safety reports to identify root causes, recommending and overseeing the implementation of effective preventive and corrective measures. Serve as Deputy Head of Safety, assuming leadership and decision-making responsibilities in their absence. Facilitate clear and effective communication of critical safety issues, both internally across departments and externally with the broader aviation community. Actively participate in Safety Review Board (SRB) and Departmental Safety Action Group (DSAG) meetings, providing expert advisory input. Provide essential support to Flight Safety Officers in leveraging Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) for proactive safety enhancements and trend identification. Establish and maintain strong liaisons with the Quality Manager, Technical team, and external FDM providers to ensure data integrity and resolve complex issues. Undertake additional safety-related duties and projects as assigned, contributing to overall departmental objectives and safety initiatives. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Aviation, Safety Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent proven experience in the aviation sector. Demonstrated and comprehensive experience in aviation safety, with a strong background in Safety Management Systems (SMS) implementation, oversight, and auditing. In-depth understanding and practical application of international aviation regulations and best-in-class safety practices (e.g., ICAO, FAA, EASA). Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to meticulously evaluate complex safety reports and data. Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and engaging stakeholders at all levels. Proficiency or strong familiarity with Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) systems and their application in safety enhancement is highly desirable. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for effective reporting and presentations.
