Elevator Mechanic

Job Type: Permanent

Service, erect and assemble elevator equipment, including electric, hydraulic, residential, platform lifts, dumbwaiters, or similar for the vertical building transport industry as per manufacturer standards Examine, test and adjust new elevators prior to handover and throughout service contract Participate in after-hours on call roster schedules as required Communicate effectively with staff, customers, and other professionals Schedule and carry out effective service route management to complete and effective service to all customers Perform installation and modernization work and repairs when assigned or as required Train colleagues in best practices for service, modernization and construction tasks, and safety standards Prepare written reports such as log, safety test, inspection, surveys, work orders and status of equipment in a timely and complete manner Troubleshoot issues using elevator diagnostic tools, liaise with manufacturer engineering support, and resolve issues promptly to ensure projects are not delayed. Identify, repair, or replace defective or worn parts of machines and equipment in machine room, hoist way and elevator pit Attend meetings as assigned and present reports as needed Assume responsibility for all company vehicles, tools, equipment, and clothing, when in possession of them and ensure the safe return of same Conduct behavior necessary for safety of self and others Maintain clean, organized, and safe work sites and parts storage area

Requirements

Minimum 5 years of successful field experience Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, elevator safety codes, nd fire safety codes. In-depth knowledge of many types of lift equipment (legacy and latest technology) from leading brands Ability to meet deadlines and work with minimum of supervision Possess various safety certificates (NCER/OSHA/Heights/First Aid) or ability to complete exams Available during weekends and public holidays as schedules warrant Ability to read and understand building plans, installation and wiring drawings Knowledge of Windows operating systems and elevator diagnostics tools and proficient in their use. Prepared for Security background checks and drug testing if situation warrants Organized, effective time-keeping, and a team player are all viewed favourably. Good oral and written communication skills Drivers license required and physically capable of lifting a min. 50 LBS of various items
