OPERATIONS ACCOUNTANT

The Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS), a premier marine research and education institute and a unit of Arizona State University (ASU), is seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Accountant to join our Finance team. Record financial transactions including journal entries for month-end close. Review and posting of journals of team member entries. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic reforecasts. Assist in preparing for the annual audit. Produce departmental reports for review and support of strategy assessments. Assist with the preparation of various annual regulatory report support schedules. Assist with timely month end close of accounts and year end final recs. Ensure compliance with BIOS Accounting Policy & Procedures. Initiate bank transactions for payroll and other electronic payments. Assist with Fixed Asset Tracking and Capitalization Schedules. Check/record changes in quarterly & annual inventory. Assist with dashboard and cash flow projections. Cross train with other department members for critical functions as back up assistance for outages. Perform other tasks as assigned by the CFO from time to time. CPA or Chartered Accountant designation Bachelor's degree with major in accounting or related field (minimum) Minimum of four years' experience working in a finance or accounting team Familiar with US GAAP accounting principles Proficiency in accounting systems, MIP multi-fund preferred Excellent working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook Audit experience Commitment to work as a team player Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

Requirements

CPA or Chartered Accountant designation Bachelor's degree with major in accounting or related field (minimum) Minimum of four years' experience working in a finance or accounting team Familiar with US GAAP accounting principles Proficiency in accounting systems, MIP multi-fund preferred Excellent Excellent working working knowled knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook Audit experience Commitment to work as a team player Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
