AXIS Specialty Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of AXIS Capital Holdings Limited, a NYSE-traded company and global provider of specialty lines insurance and treaty reinsurance with offices located in Bermuda, the United States, Europe, Singapore and Canada. We currently invite applications for the role of Vice President, Investment Controller. This position has responsibility for the day to day management of the investment accounting and reporting function, providing investment data for SEC and Legal entity reporting for the Company's $15 billion cash and investment portfolio, and providing regular investment analysis to management. Key Duties and Responsibilities: • Manage and develop the corporate investment accounting and reporting team, including managing the relationship with the Company's investment accounting service provider and overseeing the financial and accounting controls and processes relating to the Company's investment portfolio • Prepare and review the investment-related sections of the MD&A, US GAAP financial statement disclosures for the SEC 10Q/10K and local legal entity financial statement disclosures Manage relationships with investment management, performance and risk groups and coordinate internal reporting requirements to ensure consistency and reconciliation to the general ledger • Review the monthly and quarterly consolidated investment results, including custodian holdings and asset manager reconciliations, pricing reasonableness and credit loss analysis • Oversee the preparation of the Company's quarterly financial supplement for accuracy and completeness in relation to the investment portfolio • Prepare and review the quarterly/annual Solvency II and BSCR investment disclosures • Assist senior management in preparing for earnings conference calls and Audit Committee presentations • Assist in the resolution of complex accounting issues occurring in the investment portfolio, including researching and resolving investment reporting issues Assist with the production of the annual investment income forecast and quarterly variance analysis • Manage and review investment deliverables for regulators based in Bermuda, U.S. and Europe, and Risk analysis • Assist external auditors with their quarterly reviews and annual audits of the investment sections of the 10K/10Q Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience: • Internationally recognized professional accounting designation (e.g. CA, CPA) with at least ten (10) years post qualification experience in investment analysis, accounting and financial reporting with a public insurance/reinsurance company • In depth current knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements related to investments • Detailed knowledge of, and exposure to, the compliance requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act • Strong experience with and current knowledge of various investment vehicles, including structured securities (e.g. MBS, ABS, CLO's), alternative investments, mortgage loans and derivatives • Excellent proficiency in the Microsoft suite of applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) • Experience in using Aladdin Accounting, Oracle General Ledger and Wdesk financial statement reporting software preferred Proven track record of sound analytical skills and attention to detail • Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong work ethic, commitment to meeting deadlines, and ability and willingness to work overtime and on weekends/ public holidays when necessary
