VP, Assistant Head of Finance - Property & Controller Bermuda

The VP, Assistant Head of Finance - Property & Controller-Bermuda is responsible for leading the financial accounting, intemal controls, budgeting, and financial reporting for the Property and Casualty/Specialty segments in Bermuda, as well as supporting the Group's Property segment in working with the segment's business leaders and underwriters in providing greater financial analysis of past and future outcomes, at appropriate levels of granularity. This role is also responsible for leading global projects to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of reporting requirements in an increasingly complex environment, and will have close interaction across multiple functional areas of the business working with the global finance team to add value across relevant business areas. In addition, this role is responsible for oversight and support of strategic projects and initiatives for the global finance function. This role is responsible for managing and developing team members.

Requirements

A university degree essential with emphasis on business, finance, or accounting; an advanced degree advantageous. Professional accounting designation required (e.g. CA, ACA, CPA). A minimum of ten years of relevant post qualification experience including at least two years of Big Four audit experience, preferably within reinsurance accounting with a minimum of 8 years of experience in the reinsurance industry. Insurance designation would be an asset. Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including experience reviewing and managing complex assumed and oeded (re)insurance contracts and related claims. Experience with public companies, SEC reporting and SOX 404 is required. Proven problem solving and analytical skills Proven ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines. Ability to work on own initiative and complete work in a methodical, thorough, and organized manner. Be an efficient and effective team member and participate fully to achieve team goals. Excellent numerical skills and keen. attention to detail, Proficiency in the use of computer systems and applications (e.g. Microsoft Office suite, etc.). Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 general ledger and SICS (re)insurance accounting sub-ledger is required. Proven problem-solving skills and strong written and oral communication skills, Including at the C-Suite and Board level is required. Proven ability to lead global strategic projects and initiatives is required. Proven ability to coordinate/communicate with accounting professionals in multiple locations. Proven leadership skills with the ability to develop junior staff and team.
